Principal's Message

Dear Parents,
As we prepare to complete the last month of the 2011-12 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, your children, and the faculty and staff of Fremont High School for making this an outstanding year! We had a great start to the school year! It has been an amazing journey, filled with “challenges” and expectations of success. We met and achieved our goals! As my staff and I have served your students, we hope that your students have enjoyed their experience at Fremont High School this year. Our hope is that they have made gains in both knowledge and skill as they pursue their educational goals.
I want to thank the teachers and staff of Fremont for their efforts with implementing the State Common Core Standards. The standards outline essential knowledge, concepts, and skills to be mastered at each grade level or within a critical content area. Implementation for the core is 2014.
Our students did a fine job by increasing school spirit! If you attended any school activity, what a great show of support we received from the “Silver Wolf Nation.” What a great school!
Graduation will take place on May 21st at 4:00 p.m. at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University. If you have senior students, please spend some time talking with them about their graduation status to make sure that everything is in place and taken care of for graduation. This is a once in a lifetime event, and we want everyone to enjoy it as much as possible.
Congratulations to all of our spring sports teams. They are all wrapping up their seasons and it looks like we will be participating in state in every sport. Great job teams and good luck as you head to state. Our Performing Arts department has been very busy this past month with choir, drama and band all participating and earning honors. They too will be participating at their state festivals. Our FFA, Visual Arts, Welding, Auto and Drafting students have also fared well in their competition. We commend all of those students and teachers involved on their exceptional talents!
As we come to the close of another school year, we would like to recognize and congratulate those teachers who are retiring. Mrs. Diana Wilhelmsen (math), Mrs. Colleen Merrill (business), and Mrs. Gayle Kelley (English) all will be retiring from Weber School District. Each of these teachers has been a valued member of the Fremont High School staff. These three ladies have been exceptional teachers throughout their careers and have influenced a great number of people for good! We wish them well during this time, and we thank them for their years of service. We also say goodbye to Ms. Ashley Montgomery (math) who will be leaving us to work on her graduate degree, and Ms. Brynn Campbell (AG science) who is getting married and moving out of the state. We appreciate them and wish them the best!

Thank you for a great year and we wish you all an enjoyable summer!

Sincerely,
Ray Long
Principal
